Remy Tolentino

Medical Center in Dallas
Remy Tolentino MSN,
RN, CNAA, BC serves
as chief nursing officer of Baylor University
Medical Center in Dallas, overseeing approximately
2000 nurses and responsible for nursing
practice standards. With more than 20 years
at Baylor, her professional efforts have
focused on the development of the cardiovascular
service line and improvements in patient
care and staff development particularly
in the adult intensive care units and cardiovascular
areas.
She has been instrumental in developing
Nursing's shared governance structure and
process, the growth and development of
clinical ethics services, the development
and implementation of care paths at Baylor
University Medical Center, the development
and clinical design of the Baylor Jack
and Jane Hamilton Heart Hospital and the
development of the Baylor Heart and Vascular
Institute. Under her leadership, BUMC has
been named as one of the top 100 cardiovascular
hospitals in the United States.
Tolentino graduated from the University
of Texas in Arlington with a master's degree
in nursing in 1985 and received excellence
awards in adult health and teaching. She
was awarded the 2001 Vision Partner for
the Dallas Chapter of the American Association
of Critical Care Nurses; was recognized
as one of the Great 100 Nurses for 2001
by the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council
and Districts 3 and 4 of the Texas Nurses
Association; was competitively selected
in 2002 to participate in the Johnson and
Johnson-Wharton Fellows Program in Management
for Nurse Executives at the prestigious
Wharton School of Business, University
of Pennsylvania; and was recognized as
a Distinguished Alumni in 2002 by the University
of Texas at Arlington. In January, 2004,
under her leadership as Chief Nursing Officer,
Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas
received the Magnet Award for "Excellence
in Nursing Services" from the American
Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for
excellence in nursing care.
